Session+Day+4+063

Becky Nordgren looks forward to representing the people of District 29 for a second term and continuing to advocate for limited government.

Ethics & Accountability in Government

We need a government that is honest and open.  That is why I have supported important ethics laws that have made state government more transparent.  I will continue to support reforms that make state government more accountable to the people of Alabama.

Healthcare

I oppose Obamacare and I will do what we can to push back against it in Alabama.  There are market-based healthcare reforms we should pursue which will improve patient access to healthcare services and maintain the relationship between a patient and their doctor. In addition to improving the quality of healthcare services, commonsense market-based healthcare reform will reduce entitlement spending and decrease our massive government debt.

Pro-Life

I am 100% pro-life.  I believe that every human life is sacred. I firmly believe that the unborn have unalienable rights and are entitled to the full protection of the law.

2nd Amendment

I am a strong supporter of our 2nd Amendment rights.  I believe the Constitution means what it says and I will make sure Alabama does everything possible to protect our right to own firearms.

Our 2nd Amendment rights have been under constant attack from President Obama.  I will make sure that Alabama continues to have the strongest 2nd Amendment protections in the country and I will make sure the Alabama legislature fights any attempt by President Obama or his liberal allies to curb our right to keep and bear arms.

Reducing Waste

I will continue to eliminate waste and duplication in state government.  I will critically evaluate every expenditure and determine if it is a good use of taxpayer dollars. If it isn’t, I’ll work to have it removed from the budget – it’s that simple. It is our moral responsibility to ensure our children and grandchildren are not burdened by massive government debt for years to come.

Conservative Values

I believe in traditional Alabama values.  The attacks on Alabama’s conservative values have been constant from President Obama and his liberal allies.

I will work with the Legislature to slow down Obamacare and preserve our Second Amendment rights.

Economic Development

I am committed to recruiting new jobs to our area.  The private sector must be freed from burdensome government regulations that stifle economic growth.  I will work to free our business owners from unnecessary government interference so they can grow our economy.

Improving Education

Our students deserve a first class education system.  I will work to improve Alabama’s education system by supporting locally developed, challenging curriculum for our students. There is no one-size-fits-all solution to education.  What works in Gadsden may be different from what works in Birmingham or Montgomery.  Local school boards and educators should develop curriculum for our students, not bureaucrats in Washington.  I also believe we must prepare our students to be contributing members of a 21st century workforce.  I support expanding career-technical opportunities for our high school students so they are prepared to enter college or begin a career out of high school.
